In 1983/4 I had two large school projects: my final thesis on Havenwoods, and documentation of the Milwaukee Edison Power Plant. For several months in the middle of winter I and other students climbed over, around, inside and out, of the old, and soon to be demolished power plant. In that dark cold plant some of my exposures were 18' long. In hindsight my photos look rather romantic but now I take that as a sign of success, because as a young photographer I was somehow able to express what I felt about that condemmed space.
